GUESTS WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS

A little background

We want every guest to feel welcome when visiting our experience at South Devon Railway, so we kindly ask you to take note of the following important information.

Large Crowds

Many guests visit us at once, often between 500 and 1,000 people, so some areas may become busy during peak times. We recommend that guests who are uncomfortable in crowds remain towards the back of the waiting area, and again on the platform, allowing the main crowd to move forward first. You may find it easier to board the train once most other guests have already done so.

Each carriage onboard holds up to 64 people, and you may be seated at a shared table with another family. Due to the compact size of the site, we are unfortunately unable to offer designated quiet areas.

Loud Noises

Our experience includes music, singing, actors using microphones, a large steam train and busy crowds, all of which can naturally create loud sounds. For guests who are sensitive to noise, we recommend bringing ear defenders, as many families have found these helpful during the louder parts of the show. Please note that due to the small size of the site, we are unable to provide designated quiet areas.

Flashing Lights

There are flashing lights both on board the train and around the site; however, please note that none of them are strobe lights, and they are designed to remain gentle and festive throughout the experience.

Walking

For guests with difficulties walking, we do try to accommodate you as best as possible whilst also having restrictions of running the event at a heritage railway.

Sadly we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs on board the train due to the nature of heritage carriages.
